Just three days earlier, two pedestrians were hurt when a stunt driver lost control of the vehicle and plowed into a local restaurant, knocking over a lightpole in the process.
Although no one was seriously injured in either incident, many people have already categorized the film into the "cursed film" hall of fame. Other films that are considered cursed include "Poltergeist", "Superman" and "The Omen". Although this seems to fit, it could be just a dash of bad luck that has struck in New York.

There is a fine line between coincidence and fate. If some alternate force somewhere is working against the movie, then I guess the universe will have its way. But I believe that all the hubbub is coincidence and has nothing to do with any actual "curse." The movie should be off the New York set soon so there doesn't leave much time for anything more to happen. But I'll knock on wood just to make sure I haven't jinxed it.

Cursed or not, the movie hasn't run into any other forms of bad luck and the crew as well as the producers hope this fleeting "coincidence" will pass.

Lost, the Ending is Near

After four intense seasons plane crashes, mysterious smoke monsters and hostile "others", the award winning show "Lost" could be getting ready for its final season. Could the survivors of flight 815 finally be found?

Overall “The Variable” is what my friend Desiree calls a vehicle episode. Basically it’s just getting all the characters into position for the season finale. Season 4 has “Something Nice Back Home.” Season 3 was “Greatest Hits.” Way back in Season 1, it was “Born to Run.” This season, it’s far more important. The characters aren’t getting into position for just the season finale but also the final season.
Lost began with a group of people crashing on a mysterious island. The show was a bit hard to follow in the start and didn't really get any easier are the seasons progressed. With the flashbacks and flash forwards, it was difficult to miss one show and still realize what was going on. They were lost, they fought, they were related, they were found, they were killed, they lied and they went back, they time travelled. This confusing season proved to be a little too confusing for the general public. When the fourth season left off, some of the popular characters were rescued and got to return home.

Although this pleased most of the audience, viewers had no idea where the producers and directors were going with the show. So, like most stories, they had to make them unhappy with their new surroundings. They all had to lie to protect each other and they ones that they left behind. Characters disappeared with no explanation and secrets were exploding left and right. No one thought lost would ever get to this point. I honestly do not know what will happen next.

Could this be the final season of the award winning drama? How will they tie up all the loose ends that are still up in the air? Can they ever truly end "Lost" without leaving things unsaid? And where have the "others" been all season? I don't know how they can end the season unless someone wakes up and finds this all to be a really bad nightmare. We'll see how this turns out in the end, personally I think they should keep it going. I mean after they have been lost this long, can they ever truly be found?

Media Revolution

Ashton Kutcher made his thoughts on "big news media" quite clear when he challenged CNN to gain 1,000,000 followers on Twitter before he did.

"Dropping my first tweet," exclaimed Ashton Kutcher at 11:50 PM on January 15, 2009. At the time, it may have sounded as if the Hollywood gadfly had simply invented a new euphemism for human elimination. In fact, he was launching a revolution. For many years, only The New York Times had the power to drive the national discourse. Then, for a few years after that, only The New York Times and a handful of bloggers did. Using Twitter to broadcast a series of scoops about his noisy neighbor, however, Kutcher vividly illustrated how the media landscape was shifting once again. Now, even ordinary celebrities can reach the masses just as effectively as CNN or the only son of a recently deceased Nigerian millionaire: All they need is a cell phone and some fingers.
Although Ashton offered a sort of "prize," 20,000 maleria nets donated to Africa, if he was the first to reach the million mark, his purpose was never unclear. He's tired of big news company's deciding how, when and what information we get to hear. Social networking has made it possible for people to connect more easily than ever. Kutcher is calling this the "new media revolution".

I think he's got the right idea. As a new generation, we have the right to get the news without all the restrictions. It's our news and we have a right to hear it as it is, without all the fluff. What Ashton is trying to accomplish is getting everyone involved in the media. It's our world so lets call it as we see it, without having red tape to limit our knowledge.

First Blog

My professor decided to have us start a blogging... we'll see where this goes.
